Initial appearances Zahvier Wakil Acosta, 23, Red Wing, Minn., posted a $10,000 signature bond Oct. 11 on a felony substantial battery – intend bodily harm charge. A preliminary hearing is slated for 10 a.m. Dec. 14.

Rafael Alvarado Javier, 51, River Falls, posted a $10,000 signature bond on misdemeanor bail jumping and operate without a valid license (third within three years) charges Oct. 13. A pretrail conference is scheduled to 9 a.m. Nov. 15.

Wesley Emil Alwin, 31, New Richmond, posted a $10,000 signature bond Oct. 13 on felony bail jumping (three counts), felony take and drive vehicle without consent, two counts of felony strangulation and suffocation (domestic abuse), two counts of felony aggravated battery (domestic abuse), misdemeanor bail jumping (three counts), two counts of disorderly conduct (domestic abuse), and unlawful phone use – threatens harm (domestic abuse) charges. He was also ordered to have no contact with Red Barn 29 Express Bar & Grill for the next 20 days. A preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

John Anthony Dugger, 20, South St. Paul, Minn., posted a $2,500 signature bond on a felony attempt obtain controlled substance by fraud charge Oct. 18. A preliminary hearing is set for 2:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

Heather Marie Hurdt, 36, Cottage Grove, Minn., pleaded not guilty and was ordered to pay $850 cash bond on criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct charges Oct. 18. A pretrial conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 18.

Melissa Ann Johnson, 30, St. Paul, posted a $5,000 signature bond Oct. 11 on felony possession of methamphetamine (as party to a crime) and possess drug paraphernalia charges. A preliminary hearing is set for 1 p.m. Nov. 15.

Kyle Anthony Taylor, 27, Prescott, posted a $5,000 signature bond on a misdemeanor bail jumping charge Oct. 18. A status conference is slated for 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30.

Failure to appear Kyle Bradley Huppert, 45, Bay City, failed to appear in court Oct. 18 for an initial appearance. He is charged with two violate/harassment restraining order – temporary restraining order charges. A warrant was issued for his arrest Oct. 19.

Terrence L. Stephney, 40, River Falls, failed to appear in court Oct. 18 for an initial appearance. He is charged with operate without valid license (second within three years), three felony bail jumping, two misdemeanor bail jumping, and two violate foreign protection order (domestic abuse) charges. A warrant for his arrest was issued Oct. 19.

Isaiah M. Vanheel, 21, Rice Lake, failed to appear in court Oct. 18 for an initial appearance. He is charged with felony burglary – building/dwelling and take/drive vehicle without consent – abandon vehicle. An arrest warrant was issued. Oct. 18.

Jamie John Walker, 46, Browntown, failed to appear in court Oct. 18 for an initial appearance. He is charged with felony misappropriate ID info/obtain money and take/drive vehicle without consent – abandon vehicle. An arrest warrant was issued Oct. 20.

Closed cases

A possession of methamphetamine charge against Ahdronemus Demetric Gooden, 41, Shelby, Miss., was dismissed Oct. 15. The charge stemmed from an incident Feb. 4, 2018.

Travis J. Horning, 31, Hastings, Minn., was convicted of felony possession of methamphetamine and possession of THC, sentenced to three years’ probation and fined $961 on Oct. 18. A felony bail jumping charge was dismissed. The charges resulted from incidents Oct. 10, 2020 and July 28, 2021.

Warren A. Kocurek, 62, Farmington, Minn., waived extradition to Minnesota Oct. 18.

Richard H. Macas, 30, River Falls, was convicted of operate without valid license (second within three years) and fined $443 Oct. 15. The charge stemmed from a traffic stop May 21, 2021.

Ashley Rose Plahn, 36, Ellsworth, was convicted of OWIsecond, sentenced to 10 days in jail and fined $1,429 Oct. 18. She was ordered to undergo an alcohol assessment and install an ignition interlock device. Her driver’s license was revoked for one year. An operating with PAC charge was dismissed. The charges resulted from a traffic stop Oct. 24, 2020.

John Robinson, 39, Anoka, Minn., was convicted of felony maintain drug trafficking place (as party to a crime), sentenced to three years’ probation and fined $518 Oct. 14. A felony possession of methamphetamine charge was dismissed. The charges stemmed from an Aug. 4, 2021 incident.

Brenna Lynne Schutts, 19, Menomonie, was convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $277.80 Oct. 18. The charge resulted from an Aug. 8, 2020 incident.

Deferred prosecution James Dee Hernandez, 35, Prescott, pleaded guilty to and entered into a deferred judgment of conviction agreement on a criminal trespass to dwelling charge Oct. 18. The charge stemmed from an incident Aug. 29, 2020.

Masah Lee Hutter, 23, Bay City, pleaded guilty to and entered into a deferred judgment of conviction agreement on a disorderly conduct (domestic abuse) charge Oct. 19. The charge resulted from a Nov. 1, 2020 incident.

Jonah Michael O’Conner-Jensen, 25, River Falls, pleaded guilty to and entered into a deferred judgment of conviction agreement on a resisting or obstructing an officer charge. A disorderly conduct charge was dismissed. The charge stemmed from an Aug. 2, 2020 incident.

Joshua James Thacker, 37, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was convicted of battery, sentenced to one year’s probation and fined $443 Oct. 13. He pleaded guilty to an entered into a deferred judgment of conviction agreement on a felony child abuse – intentionally cause harm charge. The charges resulted from a July 6, 2021 incident.

Justin M. Weldon, 25, Prescott, pleaded guilty to and entered into a deferred judgment of conviction agreement on a possession of cocaine/coca charge Oct. 18. The charge stemmed from a May 2, 2021 incident.

Jody T. Westbrook, 50, River Falls, was convicted of criminal damage to property, sentenced to one year’s probation, and fined $584.58. Felony possession of burglarious tools and theft – movable property charges were dismissed, but read-in for restitution purposes. He also pleaded guilty to and entered into a deferred judgment of conviction agreement on a felony burglary – building/ dwelling charge. The charges resulted from a Sept. 26, 2020 incident.
