Initial appearances Joseph Matthew Ciotti, 25, River Falls, pleaded innocent and posted a $2,500 signature bond on disorderly conduct (domestic abuse) and battery (domestic abuse) charges July 6. A pre-trial conference is set for 2 p.m. Aug. 17.

Lovetta Marie Mitchell, 30, Minneapolis, pleaded innocent and posted a $10,000 signature bond on a neglecting a child (specified harm did not occur) charge July 9. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 24.

Christine Marie Ries, 43, Bay City, pleaded innocent and posted a $1,000 signature bond on a disorderly conduct (domestic abuse) charge July 6. A pre-trial conference is set for 1:45 p.m. Aug. 17.

Joseph Frederick Schmidt, 23, Hastings, Minn., posted a $10,000 signature bond July 7 on operating while revoked and two felony bail jumping charges. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Oct. 19.

Joshua James Thacker, 36, River Falls, posted a $25,000 signature bond on three felony child abuse – intentionally cause harm charges July 7. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Aug. 12.

Closed cases Kristin Leigh Baum, 34, Plum City, was convicted of felony possession of methamphetamine (repeater), sentenced to three years of probation and fined $518 July 8. A resisting or obstructing an officer charge was dismissed. The charges were filed Jan. 13, 2020.

Ryan Edward Lewis, 28, Kenosha County Detention Center, Kenosha, was convicted of two counts of intentionally mistreat animals, sentenced to nine months in jail and fined $886 July 6. A restitution hearing will be held at a later date. The charges were filed July 16 and Nov. 24, 2020.

A felony possession of methamphetamine (as party to a crime) charge against Christine L. Miller, 37, River Falls, was dismissed July 8 upon completion of a deferred judgment of conviction agreement. The charge was filed Nov. 13, 2018.

Aaron G. Schillinger, 39, Elmwood, was convicted of felony possess with intent – amphetamine (as party to a crime), sentenced to four years in prison and four years extended supervision, stayed for three years, and three years of probation, and fined $518 July 6. Information on felony possess with intent – THC and possess drug paraphernalia charges was also filed July 7. The amphetamine charge was filed Nov. 21, 2019.

Teo D. Urbaniak, 20, River Falls, was convicted of disorderly conduct and fined $302.80 July 9. Urbaniak originally pleaded guilty to expose child to harmful descriptions on June 24, 2020, at which time he entered a deferred judgment of conviction agreement. Upon successful completion of the agreement, the charge was amended to disorderly conduct. The original charge was filed Oct. 16, 2019.

Jayson B. Williams, 39, Red Wing, Minn., was convicted of issue of worthless checks, sentenced to one year of probation, fined $443 and ordered to pay $2,365 in restitution (plus a 10 percent fee) on July 7. A felony forgery – uttering charge was dismissed. The charges were filed Jan. 17, 2020.
