NEW RICHMOND — Prescott held onto the Middle Border Conference title for the 31st consecutive year, Ellsworth had its best showing of the season and Spring Valley had a solid day themselves at the Western Wisconsin Conference meet at New Richmond over the weekend.
Prescott completed the clean sweep in the Middle Border Conference, winning pom, jazz, hip hop and the overall title. The team also took the top three duet scores led by Macy Reiter and Keira Link taking first.
“Our main goal heading into conference was to showcase routines that were a clear step up from our previous performances and to use these performances as a springboard for the remainder of postseason. The team rose to the occasion. We debuted our Hip Hop routine for the first time this season (a new category for the Prescott Dance Team), a piece the team has invested an incredible amount of time, focus, and intention into, completing it just weeks before the conference competition,” Coach Emma Carlson stated.
Now at 31 consecutive conference titles, the years of hard work have continued to pay off for everyone involved. Carlson mentioned the performances were some of the strongest the team has had so far this season.
“They are deeply committed to carrying on the program’s legacy, while also upholding it in their own meaningful way. Each day, they show up with intention around the goals we set at the beginning of the season: ‘this isn’t just about being great dancers—it’s about being memorable teammates.’ From the very start, this group made a conscious choice, not to hope to be a strong team, but choosing to be one. That mindset has shaped everything they do, both on and off the floor,” Carlson stated
Carlson said they appreciate every fan that keeps the team in mind throughout the competition season and they are committed to improving 1% every single day.
Ellsworth Coach Angie McHardy gave the Panthers high praise for their showing in New Richmond, saying it was the best they have performed all three dances all year as they placed second in pom, jazz and hip hop.
“It was honest to gosh probably the best the girls had performed those three dances all season,” McHardy said. “I actually teared up when we got off stage. I was like that was the best I’ve ever seen you guys do it… They went out there and left everything out there.”
Addie Sabby and SaVaya Moorhouse also both made All-Conference First Team with their solo performances.
“They both have done so well this year,” McHardy said. “They were pretty excited to make the first All-Conference team.”
The Panthers have a few tricks up their sleeve that they are ready to show off at Regionals and potentially State.
“We got really great feedback from conference, so we have a couple little things that we’re going to tweak, and then we have a couple little surprises for Regionals that we’re going to pull out,” McHardy said. “We’re ready for the challenge.”
The Spring Valley Vallettes performed pom and jazz in New Richmond. Colfax took the Dunn-St. Croix/Dairyland title overall and in pom. The Vallettes were the lone team in their conference to compete in the jazz category.
