David R. Johnson, age 73 of Ellsworth, WI, passed away on July 5, 2020 at Preferred Senior Living with his family at his side. David was born on August 15, 1946 to Donald R. and Gladys (Beastrom) Johnson in Red Wing, MN. He became a child of God on October 13, 1946, and was a member of English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. He grew up and lived most of his life in Hager City, WI. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1964 and attended University of Wisconsin-Stout. David was a Vietnam veteran, and served in the U.S. Army Security Agency for four years. He was united in marriage to Nancy Orf on December 9, 1967, ten days before leaving for duty in Vietnam. David and Nancy were blessed with two daughters, Wendy and Jennifer. He was so proud of the women they have become. Dave loved farming and being a steward of the land. He was a Pioneer Hybrid Representative for over 20 years. He promoted farming by serving on several boards and committees, including Pierce Pepin Electric Co-op, Trent Township Board, and FSA Committee. David treasured his family, especially his six grandchildren. He had passionate interests in a wide variety of activities. He _shing, camping, scuba
diving, kayaking, reading, woodworking and traveling. He is survived by his beloved family: wife Nancy of 52 years; daughters Wendy (John) Bornholdt of Prior Lake, MN and Jennifer (Eric) Busch of Cuba City, WI; grandchildren Erin, Matt, and David Bornholdt; Anna, Andrew, and Julia Busch. He is also survived by brother Steven (Monica) Johnson, sister Jane Johnson, and nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved German Shorthair companion, Jake.
