Denise R. Hartenstein, age 66 of River Falls, Wis., passed away peacefully on Aug. 4, 2026 at her home. She was born on Feb. 26, 1960, in Stillwater to Robert and Barbara (Harvieux) Polzin. Denise was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family. Before retiring, she worked at Freeman Drug in River Falls.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Barbara Polzin, and brothers Doug and Donald Polzin. She is survived by her husband Scott Hartenstein, sister Deb Polzin, children Alicia (Wayne Hoogheem) Hartenstein, Laina Hartenstein, and Matthew (Jaime) Verkuilen; grandchildren, Max, Taylor, Hayleigh, Raelynn, Claire, and Hannah along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A casual celebration of Denise’s Life will be at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, at Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services (805 E. Division St., River Falls, WI) with a visitation preceding the service from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. The burial will take place after the service in Greenwood Cemetery followed by refreshments.
