The Diamond Bluff Town Board met last Thursday, August 13th, outside of the Diamond Bluff Town Hall.
Town Clerk Todd Mehrkens reported a good turnout with 81 voters at Tuesday’s election.
“There’s a speed limit through here!” Town Chair Jeff Holst informed a young man traveling on a scooter past the meeting, held outside in view of the scenic Mississippi River.
“The township road update: patching will happen as soon as weather allows,” Mehrkens said. “Estimates will be requested for patching at the boat launch as well as the roadsides.”
Mehrkens also informed the meeting that the Sea Wing Park sign was repainted by a town resident in honor of the 130th Anniversary of the Sea Wing disaster, one of the worst recorded disasters in USA inland waterways.
After the July meeting minutes were approved, it was approved to pay the claims presented to the Board, totaling $3,853.93.
Diamond Bluff is working to replace their election machine as required by the State of Wisconsin. As of 2021, their current machine will be considered outdated. The Pierce County Clerk’s office will work to coordinate the purchase of a machine, which will cost $8,740. The cost will be covered the COVID-19 CARES Act grant funds.
There was some discussion about new voting booth dividers that will be necessary for future elections. The Board discussed the design they prefer. Board members Pat Atherton and Roger Dosdall informed the Board they are capable of making the design they want and will get started to make the dream a reality.
The Board is working diligently to make sure all of the storm damage is repaired after the gully-washer that came through at the end of June.
After a load of garbage was dumped illegally in town, the refuse was properly disposed of. Identifying information was found among the disposed items, and the Board agreed to fine the offending party.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 10th at 7 p.m.
