ELLSWORTH — Anyone interested in discovering their family heritage, exploring new research strategies, or uncovering ancestral stories will find this presentation both practical and inspiring. The Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to “Sifting Through the Cookbooks for Our Female Ancestors,” part of its Discover Together Tuesday series at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
The program will be held at the Ellsworth Senior Center, located within English Lutheran Church, 229 W. Main St, Ellsworth. Professional genealogist Eleanor O. Brinsko, MLIS, of Carlon Genealogical Services, will demonstrate how historic recipes, community cookbooks, and kitchen traditions can reveal valuable clues about female ancestors. Attendees will learn how to use these resources to trace relatives, understand family stories and connect daily life to broader historical contexts.
Brinsko specializes in European American genealogy, examining genealogical and social trends on both sides of the Atlantic. She earned both a Master of Library and Information Science and a Master of Music History and Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 2014 and began her career in archival and genealogical research at the UWRF Area Research Center in 2005.
Following the presentation, attendees are invited to enjoy a complimentary lunch provided by the Ellsworth Senior Center and the Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Ellsworth Public Library is committed to supporting diversity, inclusion, and well-being within the communities it serves. For more information about this program or other library services, please call 715-273-3209.
