ELLSWORTH - Join us for an unforgettable author event featuring John Armbruster, author of “Tailspin: The True Story of a World War II Tail Gunner Who Survived a Four-Mile Fall Without a Parachute — Only to Land in Nazi Hands.”
“Tailspin” tells the astonishing true story of Gene Moran, a WWII tail gunner who miraculously survived a four-mile fall after being shot down—without a parachute. Captured by the Nazis, Gene endured brutal conditions as a prisoner of war and carried the emotional weight of his experience for decades. For more than 60 years, he remained silent about what he had lived through—until he met John.
Though initially hesitant to take on such a profound story, John Armbruster, a longtime friend of the Moran family, was moved by a request from one of Gene’s daughters: “He’ll do it, but only if you write it.” The result is a deeply moving account of survival, resilience, and the healing power of storytelling.
This compelling program will explore themes of courage, trauma, and connection through the lens of personal and historical narrative.
