Dorothy Marion (Langer) Mountin, 98, of Elmwood, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026, at Hammond Health Services with her family near her while under hospice care.
She was born June 16, 1927, in the Village of El Paso, Pierce County, Wis., the daughter of Francis and Gladys (Halvorson) Langer. Dorothy graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1944. She worked one year at the Pierce County Agriculture Office, nine years at the Pierce County Treasurer’s Office, and 26 years at the Pierce County Highway Department Office.
Dorothy married LaMoine Mountin on Oct. 24, 1951, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in El Paso, Wis. The couple raised five children: Larry, Jeanne, Julie, Jeff, and Tom.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Jerry) Hannack; daughter-in-law, Torrie Mountin; grandchildren: Christy (Michael) Boyd, Kali (Josh) Fizel, Kelsey (Carter) Vogt, Jason (Renee) Mountin, Ryan (Ricca) Mountin, Jess Pfeifer, Alissa (Mark) Schroeder, and Kelly (Kyle) Plath. Also, by great grandchildren: Nolan & Hazel Boyd, Jaxson & Jaelyn Fizel, Crew & Berklie Vogt, Remedy Benn, Cade & Camden Pfeifer, Lydia, Elijah, & Mya Schroeder, Noah, Parker, Gibson, & Karsyn Plath.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sylvia Roberts; brother, Robert Langer; husband, La Moine; sons, Larry, Jeff, and Tom; daughter, Jeanne; grandsons, Adam & David Mountin; and great grandsons, Asher & Callan Vogt.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood with Rev. Dr. Fr. Anbalagan Shanmugam celebrating the mass. Burial will immediately follow the mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Town of El Paso. Visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church on Monday.
