The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WIS DOT) recently announced they will be coming to Ellsworth in the summer of 2021 to work on portions of two highways, US 10 and WIS 65.
“These projects aim to improve the condition of the pavement on US 10 and WIS 65, truck turning movements at the US 10-WIS 65 intersection and curb ramps along both roadways,” stated a press release on the Wisconsin DOT website.
The project will include milling a portion of the existing concrete on US 10 and WIS 65 before overlaying it with asphalt pavement.
The left turn lanes at the US 10-WIS 65 intersection will be realigned to allow for improved truck turning movements at the intersection.
All non-compliant curb ramps will also be upgraded before the pavement markings are replaced.
Temporary easements will be required for the curb ramp improvements along the routes. During construction, the roadways will remain open to traffic, but the project will be constructed using single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations.
