Douglas Dean Greene Jr., age 55, of River Falls passed away suddenly and way too soon on Sept. 13, 2023 due to an ATV accident.

Doug was born in Chippewa Falls, Wis. on Nov. 12, 1967 to Douglas and Lorretta (Glenz) Greene. He grew up in Cadott and graduated from Cadott High School.

He married Gail Steiger on June 20, 1987. They had two sons, Douglas Edwin and Joshua Adam and later divorced.

Doug married April Huppert on Dec. 31, 2000. They have since then resided in River Falls.

Doug was a heavy equipment operator and welder. He was a Union steward for many years. Doug worked for Meyer Utility Structures until a worksite accident ended his career there.

He happily supported April in their latest adventure, Goats On The Go River Falls. Doug was the primary caregiver for, and instrumental in establishing the Greene Ravine Goats herd. Despite his claims of being “just a volunteer,” he was becoming known as “The Goat Guy” locally, which delighted him greatly.

Doug was a personable guy who enjoyed talking with everyone and could fix just about anything. He loved his friends, family, goats and pets (especially his dog Penny) dearly and was always willing to help with whatever was needed.

He took great pleasure in training and teaching others how to accomplish a task. His time, tools, and shop available to anyone who may need them. Often stating with a smile “You’ll do the work, I’ll just supervise.”

In his free time, Doug loved to hunt, fish, and cheer for the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers.

He is survived by his wife, April Huppert-Greene, sons Douglas and Joshua, stepchildren Chelsea Richter, Robert (Brittni) Stolp, Christopher (Hillary) Stolp and William Stolp; step grandchildren Raelyn, Harvin and Caleb Richter, Milli and Averi Stolp, in-laws Kenneth Gayle, Michael Freund, Steve (Lois) Huppert, Karen Maxwell, Randy (Karen) Huppert, Renee Anderson, (Dave) Roxi Brookshaw, (Jim Palas) Todd (Carol) Huppert, close family friend Patricia Kennedy, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and great great nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Jacqueline Gayle and Jeanne Freund, his in-laws Robert and Donna Huppert and brother-in-law Robert Maxwell.

A celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 at St Bridget’s Catholic Church in River Falls at 2 p.m. with a reception immediately following. Casual attire appropriate. Packer and blaze orange apparel encouraged.
