Douglas Maurice Lenzen, age 74, of Stevens Point, formerly of River Falls, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 10, 2024. He was born on Aug. 7, 1950, in River Falls, Wis., the son of Raymond and Rosemary (Birnbaum) Lenzen. Doug attended St. Bridget Parochial School and graduated from River Falls High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps after enlisting in the Armed Forces.

Throughout his career, Doug worked at JCPenney Department Store and later served as the custodian at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Madison, Wis. His love for fishing, especially on Lake Monona while living in Madison, brought him endless joy. Doug cherished the time he spent with his family, particularly his brothers, sharing stories and friendly competition during poker games. Holidays were filled with fond memories of togetherness.

Doug was also a skilled handyman who took pride in helping friends with their remodeling projects. His generosity extended beyond his circle, as he gave back to the community by volunteering as a driver for Meals on Wheels and helping fellow veterans get to their medical appointments.

He is survived by his sisters, Jennifer Lenzen, Barbara Smith, and Rebecca Lenzen; his brothers, Raymond, Joseph (Sandy), Michael (Stacy), Bruce, Jeffrey, and John; nieces and nephews, George (Rhonda), Daniel, Stephen (Jessie), Kristin, Nicole (Alec), Davis, Austin (Ellayna), and Sam; and his great-nieces and nephews, Barley, Chloe, Dante, Silvia, Autumn, and Kingston. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Andre, and his brother-in-law Larry Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, Nov. 14 at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls. Visitation was prior to the service at the church. Burial was in the parish cemetery, with military honors provided by the River Falls American Legion Post. Memorials are preferred at the discretion of the family. Cremation and memorial services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of River Falls.
