An Ellsworth High School student-athlete has been charged in Pierce County Circuit Court with seven felony sexual assault charges.

Wyatt Blomberg, 17, posted a $10,000 signature bond Monday, May 9 on one count of exposing genitals/pubic area/intimate parts – child act as actor/close age of actor and child (a misdemeanor), four second-degree sexual assault of a child and three felony third-degree sexual assault charges. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison and/or fines up to $100,000.

According to the com- plaint, five juveniles (middle school age and older) have reported being sexually assaulted by Blomberg and/or forced to have intercourse with him without their consent in incidents ranging from Spring 2019 to June 4, 2021. The alleged incidents are reported to have taken place on school grounds, in private homes or vehicles.

Ellsworth High School Principal Mark Stoesz de clined comment when asked via email whether Blomberg, who has participated on the EHS football and track and field teams, is still eligible to compete in sports. However, he provided a segment of the WIAA Senior High Handbook 2021-2022 regarding eligibility that all Wisconsin WIAA member high schools must follow.

Under the Code of Conduct for Athletes, it states: “Any student charged and/or convicted of a felony shall, upon the filing of felony charges, become ineligible for all further participation until the student has paid his/ her debt to society and the courts consider the sentenced served (including probation, community service, etc.)

Blomberg is scheduled to next appear in court at 11 a.m. June 14 for a preliminary hearing.
