The Ellsworth Panthers boys’ basketball team was back in action last Tuesday night at Saint Croix Central (SCC). Ellsworth fell 45-90 in the contest.
Senior Mason Anderson led the Panthers with 21 points, nine rebounds, a pair of assists and a blocked shot. Junior Jack Janke chipped in another seven points in the loss.
SCC junior guard Colin Hackbarth led all scorers with 33 points.
“St. Croix Central is a top team in the state,” said Head Coach Jordan Petersen._“We did not handle their defensive pressure and intensity well and we did not execute or community _defensively.”
Going forward, Ellsworth will be working hard to shore up the mistakes that hurt them against SCC.
“We are focusing on defensive intensity and execution along with patience offensively this week,” Petersen stated.
The Panthers will continue their hard work to prepare for a busy schedule and a long season.
“We are happy with how our players are responding to adversity. _ They have been able to bounce back and keep pushing,” Petersen reported. “We are continuing to work on being consistent in all phases of the game.”
Ellsworth will be back in action Thursday at home against Baldwin-Woodville before traveling to Amery on Friday night. Next Monday, December 21st, the Panthers will travel to Prescott to face the Cardinals.
