The #9 Ellsworth Panthers traveled to play the #8 Hayward Hurricanes in the WIAA Regional Semifinal game last Tuesday.
In his final game for the Panthers, senior Ivan Mendez led the team with nine points, five boards, five assists and three steals. Mason Anderson added 19 points and recorded three rebounds and a pair of assists. Jack Janke stayed busy in the paint and led the team in rebounding, finishing with eight points, 12 boards, five assists, a steal and a block.
Spencer Schultz ended the night with seven points and a pair of rebounds.
Shane Lange added a pair of rebounds to accompany six points. In his last game for Ellsworth, senior Matthew Mehrkens recorded two points, three rebounds and two assists as well.
Seniors Andrew Harrington, Jaegar Quade and Blake Smith also suited up for one last time.
Smith, Quade, Harrington, Mehrkens and Mendez will be missed, but the Panthers return quite a bit of young talent and will look to build on what they learned this season.
Hayward went on to fall to Prescott in the Regional Final matchup.
