ELLSWORTH – As the holiday season begins, the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce is once again encouraging residents to shop small and local throughout Small Business Season, Nov. 1 through Dec. 31. This annual campaign highlights the important role small businesses play in sustaining Ellsworth’s economy, culture, and community spirit.
“Small Business Season is more than just a shopping campaign—it’s a celebration of the people behind our storefronts,” said Kim Beebe, Executive Director of the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce. “When you support a local business, you’re helping a neighbor pay their employees, sponsor a youth team, and keep Ellsworth’s downtown vibrant. Every purchase has a purpose.”
At the Nov. 3 Ellsworth Village Board meeting, Village President Becky Beissel officially recognized Small Business Season with a proclamation honoring the contributions of local business owners and entrepreneurs. The proclamation reaffirmed Ellsworth’s commitment to fostering a thriving small business community and urged residents to choose local first during the holiday season.
Small businesses make up over 97% of all businesses in Wisconsin and employ nearly half of the state’s workforce. When residents spend locally, an estimated $68 of every $100 stays in the community— supporting local jobs, schools, nonprofits, and events that enrich Ellsworth’s quality of life.
The Chamber’s campaign will continue through December, featuring participating businesses, shopping promotions, and stories highlighting what shopping small means to local owners.
“Small Business Season is a reminder that we all play a role in the success of our community,” Beebe added. “Together, we can celebrate small, support local, and keep Ellsworth strong.”
