The Village of Ellsworth is honing in on its new administrator/ clerk-treasurer.
With the retirement of current clerk-treasurer Peggy Nelson coming May 1, the village board has been working with Public Administration Associates of Oshkosh. The full village board scheduled a special meeting Thursday, March 26 to conduct interviews for the position. A special invite-only meeting had also been planned to be held for candidates to meet community leaders. That meeting was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.
The board is expected to hire the new village administrator/ clerk-treasurer at its meeting to be held Tuesday, March 21 at 5 p.m. The first item on the agenda after the Pledge of Allegiance is a closed session discussion item posted as “Approve proposed employment with Village Administrator/Clerk-Treas.”
The meeting was moved up a week from its regular date. After a long career with the village, it likely will be Nelson’s last guiding an Ellsworth Village Board meeting, unless a special session needs to be called prior to May 1.
Of note on the agenda is a resolution “Declaring a Public Health Emergency in Response to the VOVID-19 Coronavirus.”
There are a number of license approvals for events that hopefully will be held, with things like the FFA Alumni’s Showdown in Curdtown set for June 13-14, and licenses for Cheese Curd Festival, planned for June 26-27. Licenses are also up for approval for the Pierce County Fair, set for Aug. 13-16.
Attendance at the village board meeting will be limited.
“At this point we will follow the governor’s order of 10 or less in one room, with 6-foot distance between people,” said Village President Gerald DeWolfe.
