ELLSWORTH — Halloween festivities are just around the corner! The Ellsworth Public Library and the Ellsworth business community invite families and community members to celebrate with trick-or-treating, creative scarecrow displays and cultural arts and crafts on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Eighth Annual Main Street and East End Trick or Treat takes place from 3-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Hosted by the Ellsworth Public Library and the Ellsworth business community, this popular event invites children and families to dress in costume, bring their candy buckets and visit participating local businesses for Halloween treats and fun. A list of participating locations will be available at the library beginning Oct. 26. Businesses interested in participating should contact Caroline Herfindahl, Youth Services and Programming Coordinator, at 715-273-3209 or cherfindahl@ellsworthlibrary.org.
The Scarecrow Contest also returns this year, bringing imaginative displays to Main Street and East End. Community members can vote for their favorite scarecrows beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Voting will be available in person at the library or online through the Ellsworth Public Library Facebook page. Votes must be submitted by noon on Tuesday, Nov 3. Participating businesses must have their scarecrows displayed by 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, and submit a photo to Caroline Herfindahl at cherfindahl@ellsworthlibrary.org by that same deadline.
The Ellsworth Public Library will also offer Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) arts and crafts in its Makerspace on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31. Community members are invited to stop by during regular library hours to explore this colorful cultural tradition, learn more about how it honors and remembers loved ones who have died, and enjoy a creative, hands-on activity.
The Ellsworth Public Library and local businesses look forward to welcoming the community for a fun-filled weekend celebrating Halloween, creativity and cultural traditions.
