Ellsworth Lions honor several members

ELLSWORTH – The Ellsworth Lions Club held its annual Governor’s Banquet on Oct. 24, 2022. Three members were recognized with the following honors.

This Lion has been active at our club level, has served many years on the club’s Board of Directors in many positions; has been a very dedicated Lion for many years, had intentions of leading our club several years back, had to step down due to personal reasons but came back to lead as Club President for the last two years, has done an excellent job through an unprecedented pandemic period; and this leadership has come during a time of need, as we struggle finding members willing to make this commitment to lead our club. The Ellsworth Lions Club is proud to present a Melvin Jones Fellowship to Lion Sharlene Kreye. It is an honor–not an award. The Melvin Jones Fellowship was established as Lions Clubs International Foundation’s (LCIF) highest form of recognition to acknowledge an individual’s dedication to humanitarian service.

The Knight of Sight is the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin’s highest form of recognition presented to an individual by their club, zone, group or district. Recipients of the Knight of Sight Award exemplify the LEBW’s mission to give the Gift of Sight in Wisconsin, the United States, and internationally.

This Lion has been active at our club level, has served many years on the club’s Board of Directors, more recently as Director and Lion Tamer, as well as other positions in the past; she brings a positive attitude to Club functions and participates in every event she can (which is almost all); she a been a dedicated member of the Sight/Vision Committee and has faithfully volunteered at the vision screening events for our community’s youth. The Ellsworth Lions Club is proud to present a Knight of Sight Fellowship to Lion Rosemary Matzek.

This Lion is a relatively new member in our club, but brings additional years of Lions experience, along with good, positive energy to meetings and club functions. She offers good ideas for consideration, is an advocate for healthy club culture and is eager to lead our club as Club President this year. She is very active in club functions and has served on the club’s Board of Directors as Club Secretary; she a been a dedicated member of the Sight/Vision Committee and has faithfully volunteered at the vision screening events for our community’s youth. The Ellsworth Lions Club is proud to present a Knight of Sight Fellowship to Lion Kristi Miller.

The Ellsworth Lions meet the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. We welcome visitors interested in learning more about our organization.
