Garage sales raises over $2K for food pantry

Ellsworth Lions are excited to kick off the summer with our food truck at Nilssen’s Foods on Thursday, May 16 through Saturday, May 18.  We will be serving food from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plan to have your first taste of summer of brats, chips, and soda with us. We look forward to welcoming summer with you.

We are thrilled to share the results of our recent garage sale. We collected items from members and sold them for monetary donations. We also offered fresh baked goods and coffee to our shoppers. The proceeds of the sale are being given to the Pierce County Food Pantry and we are presenting them with a check for $2,207.85. This is the largest donation we’ve made from our garage sale events. We wish to thank Zion Covenant Church for hosting the sale. Our next sale will be held Sept. 19-21, 2024.

The annual Lions International Peace Poster contest is open. The theme is “Peace Without Limits.” Youth participants must be ages 11, 12 or 13 on Nov. 15, 2024 to enter. The full rules will be posted on our Facebook page. Ellsworth Lions welcome entries from youth residing in the 54011 zip code. We offer cash prizes and forward our top entry to the District level. District winning entries proceed to the International level where the Grand Prize is $5,000 and Merit Awards will be given to 23 entrants with a $500 prize. If you have questions about the contest, please message us on Facebook or email us at EllsworthLions@gmail.com.

The Ellsworth Lions are a part of Lions International. For over 100 years, Lions have served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of our neighbors, our communities, and our world first. Through the incredible work of our Lion and Leo members, and the support of our association and our global foundation, we are serving a world in need together.
