ELLSWORTH – Ellsworth Lions Club members were thrilled to be able to donate the proceeds of their annual fall raffle, $2,500, to Basics for Local Kids, a local non-profit started by Ellsworth's own Kim Johnson._ This organization provides new and gently used winter wear (coats, snowpants, boots, hats and mittens) to children ages 0-18 in Pierce and St. Croix counties. It’s located at 126 S. Chestnut St. in Ellsworth.
The drawing done Friday night, Oct. 8 at Clyde's Corner Bar/Grill (one of the Lions' local sponsors) drew winners of first prize, $750 won by Jake Thorn, nephew of Kim Johnson; second prize, $500 won by John Freyholtz; third prize, $250 won by Mary Peterson Gardas; and fourth prize, a Packer autographed football won by Jerri Zimmer._ Thank you for all who participated with purchasing a raffle ticket as all 400 tickets that were available were sold._ To learn more about Basics for Local Kids and where to make donations, visit www.basicsforlocalkids.org They have donation boxes to drop of winterwear in various locations and are already filling orders for kids who need winterwear this year.
