Lions at work! On Wednesday, Aug. 30, members of the Ellsworth and Plum City Lions joined forces to spruce up the two playgrounds at Nugget Lake County Park. These two groups plus the Prescott, River Falls and Spring Valley Lions are defined as a Zone. At least quarterly, we intend to meet to learn from each other and enjoy fellowship. Our conversations are a time to share service ideas, membership growth plans, and develop leadership succession.
Lions International annual PEACE POSTER contest theme is “Dare to Dream.” The contest is open to youth who will be 11, 12 or 13 years of age on Nov. 15, 2023. The deadline for entries to the Ellsworth Lions is Monday, Oct. 23. See the insert for complete rules and conditions. We offer a local monetary award for the top entries. Our top entry is forwarded to our District for judging. Winners from the District are submitted to Lions International where a $5,000 award is given to the top entry and 23 Merit Awards of $500 are awarded. If you have a child interested in the contest, email us at EllsworthLions@gmail.com. Our Facebook page will also be promoting the contest.
Participating in the 100 Miles of Little Town Thrift Sales-WI HWY 10, the Ellsworth Lions held a sale at Zion Covenant Church. This sale’s profit will be donated to Assistance and Resource Center, Inc. Their mission is “To provide short term financial assistance to residents of River Falls and Ellsworth to help them meet their basic needs.” For more information about ARC, visit www.arcriverfalls.org. Ellsworth Lions were at work setting up the donated items from members of both organizations as well as hosting shoppers during the event. Any items remaining after the sale are donated to area charities. This is the third sale event we have hosted for the benefit of our community.
If you would like to join the Lions and be a member in service with us, contact us via email at EllsworthLions@gmail.com, message our Facebook page, or talk with us at service events like the Thrift Sale. Events after the Thrift Sale where you may see Lions at Work are Elevate Ellsworth (Sept. 29-Oct. 1), Fall Fest (Oct. 14), Vision Screening at ECSD (Oct. 17), and our membership meeting on Monday, Oct. 23 at the American Legion, 139 S. Oak St.
Join us. We Serve.
