ELLSWORTH Police Department Reports

The following incidents were reported to Ellsworth Police Department Aug. 8-14.

Monday, Aug. 8

A suspicious person was called in at 2:43 p.m. at 309 W. Main St. A man had parked in the shade to walk his dog and wait for another person. He agreed to leave.

A complainant reported his wallet stolen or lost at 5:52 p.m. He said it was taken from his truck near Oak and Kinne streets.

Charles Holerud, 55, Ellsworth, was arrested for two failure to appear warrants at 10:33 p.m. at 463 E. Wall St. He complained of head and chest pain, so was medically cleared at River Falls Area Hospital before being transported to jail.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

Officers responded at 11:13 a.m. to a two-vehicle crash at Main Street and Pleasant Avenue between Jodi Miller, 37, Ellsworth, and Michelle Peterson, 54, Arkansaw.

Bruce Carman, 64, Alma, was arrested at 5:01 p.m. at 598 W. Lucas Lane for two warrants and transported to Pierce County Jail.

Pierce County Fair Manager Liz Dietsche reported fraud on social media at 7:33 p.m. Someone online was masquerading as being related to the fair, asking for people’s information and email in exchange for pre-fair ride tickets. Dietsche said pre-buy ride tickets were sold out.

Wednesday, Aug. 10

Police checked on an occupied vehicle at 11:36 p.m. at Summit Park (100 W. Grove St.) The man inside was sleeping, waiting for the fair to open the next day.

Thursday, Aug. 11 Mark Nehring, 43, Elmwood, was arrested for a probation violation at 2:54 p.m. at 310 W. Main St.

Ciro Romero Gomez, 19, Ellsworth, was cited for operate without valid license after a traffic stop at 8:38 p.m. in the 200 block of North Maple Street.

Jordan T. Shutes, 34, Golden Valley, Minn., was arrested for OWI-second, possession of THC and possess drug paraphernalia and cited for operate without valid license and failure to stop at stop sign after a traffic stop at 11:14 p.m. at Main and Utility streets.

Friday, Aug. 12

Police responded at 8:34 p.m. to 138 Bay St. to attempt life-saving measures on a woman there. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

At 8:39 p.m., police received a complaint of a woman looking in vehicle windows at 159 W. Main St. She couldn’t tell police what she needed or why. She walked away from officers.

Police were called back to McDonald’s (159 W. Main St.) at 9:26 p.m. for a woman loitering and acting suspicious. When officers arrived, she ran across the street and started banging on the front door of a house. Ashley Vorass, 33, homeless, was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Saturday, Aug. 13

A resident reported knocking on her door at midnight at 648 W. Kinne St. She couldn’t see anyone outside. When police arrived, a juvenile wearing a dark sweatshirt and shorts ran away. Police caught up with him and contacted his mother for a ride.

Officers assisted jail staff with an uncooperative inmate from Prescott at 3:14 a.m.

At 7:48 a.m., a juvenile runaway was reported at 440 E. Wall St. The juvenile was last seen at 2:30-3:30 p.m. Aug.12 and had no cell phone.

A complainant found a juvenile on the road at 10:28 a.m. near Grant and Cairns streets. The juvenile was returned to their parents, who said they were moving and didn’t communicate about who would watch her. They were advised to communicate and pay better attention.

At 11:21 a.m., a woman requested to speak to police from the jail. She said she was hearing voices and seeing people who look like her family. She asked the officer to go to a brown house in town to get her medication from a man named Jerry. No one at the house knew what she was talking about.

Anisa Abdulle, 29, Ellsworth, was arrested for disorderly conduct at 12:01 p.m. at 454 High Point Drive.

At 4:44 p.m., a woman requested help for a homeless woman. Officers met with the woman and the homeless woman at English Lutheran Church (229 W. Main St.) to discuss resources. The homeless woman was left at the church per the complainant’s request.

A caller reported an intoxicated man drinking beer and urinating in the parking lot at 7:08 p.m. at Nilssen’s (157 E. Main St.) As police arrived, two vehicles matching the description given were leaving. The caller said it was a gray Ford Escape that left and went west. Police couldn’t locate the vehicle.

At 8:07 p.m., police were approached by fair staff at the fairgrounds (364 N. Maple St.) for a disagreement between staff and a patron. Pierce County handled the call.

Sunday, Aug. 14

Officers responded at 2:16 a.m. to 508 W. Mitchell St. for a man in the backyard. He had just been released from jail and was looking for a ride to River Falls. Police gave him a ride to his residence.

Police responded to an altercation at 3:25 p.m. at 141 Evergreen Estates St. David Johnston, 43, Ellsworth, was arrested for disorderly conduct and simple assault.

At 3:57 p.m., a resident at 159 Evergreen Estates St. flagged down an officer to report a stolen handgun.
