The Ellsworth Senior Center would like to invite all senior citizens ages 50 and greater to the following events to be held at the senior center:
Pool Players meet every Monday and Friday from 1-3 p.m.
Euchre Card Players will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8 and 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. Beginners are welcome and encouraged to come.
Join us for Senior Day at the Pierce County Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11 at the Senior Citizen’s Building. Coffee and goodies will be served.
Discovering Together Tuesday will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 13 with traveler and author, Gail Shore. Shore’s solo trips have taken her through five decades and nearly 100 countries, including destinations as intriguing and unfamiliar as North Korea, Iran, the Amazon, and even Timbuktu. Her new book, “Opening My Cultural Lens,” is the account of her lifetime on the road—an illuminating exploration of the traditions, rituals, and cultures of some of the world’s most remote and fascinating populations. Shore will join us for a book signing and interactive discussion about the places she’s been, the people she’s met and the lessons she’s learned. A luncheon sponsored by the Ellsworth Senior Center and Friends of the Ellsworth Public Library will follow the program.
Our Balanced Wellness Presentation with CJ Young will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21 where she will discuss “Maximizing Everyday Mobility - ABC’s of ADL’s.” What are ADL’s? They are Activities of Daily Living. Come and learn ways to maintain our independence and vitality. We will be covering the importance of the roles of fast and slow twitch muscles, as well as the significance of planes of movement. CJ will bring along her Tanita computer to read our personal Body Composition Readings. We will also be doing some group exercises to help maintain our balance and strength.
Celebrating Seniors Gathering will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Summit Park. Cake and ice cream will be served followed by White Elephant Bingo day. Everyone is invited to bring a wrapped white elephant prize. We will be playing with the snitch rule after all prizes are won. The gathering will be at the Ellsworth Senior Center in case of adverse weather.
Unless otherwise stated, all events are at the Ellsworth Senior Center, located in the basement of the old Ellsworth Public Library (312 W. Main St.) Please park in the back parking lot and enter through the back door.
