Summer is here and it’s time for the Pierce County Fair Aug. 13-16! Join us at the Senior Building at the fairgrounds (located next to the Freier School) every day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for senior activities and for complimentary coffee, water, and cookies (except Sunday, open only from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.). Friday, Aug. 14 is Senior Citizen’s Day so be sure to join us and participate in senior activities.
Join us at our events and activities at the Ellsworth Senior Citizens Center, located at 229 W. Main St. (lower level of English Lutheran Church). Someone should greet you at the door, but if not ring the black buzzer to the right of the door and someone will come.
Tuesday, Aug. 11: At 11 a.m., step back in time to learn about the Menomonie Blue Caps vintage base ball club from the 1860’s with Dustyn “Mad Dog” Dubuque, Captain of the Menomonie Blue Caps Vintage base ball club. Stories and demonstrations will be shared of how base ball was originally played when players wore wool uniforms, fielders caught fly balls without gloves and governed by rules that would puzzle today’s fans. All are welcome. Following the program, stay for lunch sponsored by Friends of the Library and the Ellsworth Senior Citizens Center.
Every Monday and Friday 1-4 p.m. the pool players meet at the Senior Citizens Center to shoot pool and they welcome others to join them.
Friday, Aug. 14: Visit us at Pierce County Fair at the Senior Building 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Tuesday, Aug. 25: At 1:30 p.m., join us for our annual Bingo outing at Summit Park (use the West Grove Street entrance off Beulah Street). We’ll have cake and ice cream and then play Bingo – if you wish, you are welcome to bring a wrapped Bingo prize. If inclement weather or too hot, we’ll meet at the Ellsworth Senior Center.
Thursday, Aug. 27: From 1–3 p.m. join the Euchre players.
Pick up our monthly calendar at any of these events and also select items from our food pantry, puzzles to put together at home, or DVD’s to watch at home.
