ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Community School District is proud to continue its collaboration with the Ellsworth Public Library to showcase the creative talents of local students in a month-long community art exhibition.
This annual event provides a public stage for students to share their hard work and artistic vision with the broader Ellsworth community. The exhibition features a wide range of media, including watercolor, sculpture, and mixed-media pieces, representing the creative journey of students across multiple grade levels.
Ashley Pritchard, elementary art teacher, stated, “The artwork makes me smile! It brings joy to my heart to see that this was all created by kids.”
Ellsworth Public Library Youth Services/Program Coordinator Caroline Herfindah added, “It is a joy to host this show every year. We love seeing the pride on parents’ and grandparents’ faces, the excited voices from students as they point and say, ‘look what I made,’ or the quieter, unassuming way that middle school and high school students point out their work—but the pride is still there.
“Ellsworth students are lucky to have these talented and caring teachers to guide and cultivate their creativity, as well as showcasing students’ potential, hard work, and artistic talents,” Herfindahl noted. “Every year we are blown away by the quality of the works displayed, the artistry and creativity, and the obvious dedication and caring of the ECSD art department.”
This collaboration highlights the importance of art in schools and the library’s role as a hub for community creativity. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
An All-School Art Show Reception is scheduled for 4-5:30 p.m. Monday, March 23 at the Ellsworth Public Library. The community is invited to meet the student artists and celebrate their accomplishments.
Community members are encouraged to visit the library throughout the month to view the students’ work and join in the celebration of local creativity.
