The Ellsworth Village Board will have a new look after the April 6 election. Becky Beissel and Michael Steele are competing for the seat of Village President, with Gerald De- Wolfe deciding against seeking re-election to the leadership post he’s held for 30 years.
The Journal will preview local races and will have an sample ballot for the Spring General Election inserted in next week’s edition.
In the race for Village Trustee, there are three seats open, with incumbent Lance Austin seeking re-election. Longtime incuments Neil Gulbranson and Curt Wandemacher have also decided to retire from village office and aren’t seeking re-election.
There are several write-in candidates for the seat. Last week, leading up to a candidate forum sponsored by the Ellsworth Area Chamber of Commerce and The Journal, candidates were invited to offer information for voters.

Last week, the profile for Village Trustee write-in candidate Chad Stevenson appeared in The Journal. Two other participants in the forum submitted profiles after deadline and are also seeking seats as Village Trustee: Andrew Borner and Dale Hines.
Here are the profiles they submitted:
Andrew Borner
Andrew Borner is_a lifelong resident of the Ellsworth area. He and_his wife, Anika, have 3 sons, Ezra, Ashton, and Jude. They are enjoying raising their family in their hometown.
Andrew attended Central Lakes College for Heavy Equipment Operation and is currently employed by the Ellsworth Community School District as the Lead Custodian and Safety Director at Ellsworth High School. His work experience there has given_him the opportunity to work through construction and maintenance projects, as well as, community events._He is a member of Zion Covenant Church, enjoys coaching his sons’ sports, and spends many hours in the outdoors hunting and fishing.
Recently, Andrew has had_the desire to take a more active role in the vitality of our community. Finding ways to make things happen _and resolving issues in a fiscally responsible way will be his priority.__Serving as a_Trustee,_Andrew will work with community members and businesses to enrich and revitalize Ellsworth._
Dale Hines
Dale has been a proud resident of Ellsworth for over 60 years. He and his wife, Julie, have two children, Jourdan and Claire.
For over 42 years Dale has been part owner and operator of Hines Ranch, Inc. He graduated from Ellsworth High School and attended University Wisconsin River Falls.
His experience includes serving as a Pierce County Board of Supervisor (20022006), as well as serving on various committees, including Board of Health, Finance/Personnel, Highway, Local Emergency, and Facility Planning.
Dale’s other activities and achievements include Representative at Metropolitan Council, St. Paul, MN, Wisconsin State Conservation Award 1988, Wisconsin Master Agriculturist 2012, and completion of Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights Formal Training. He looks forward to serving Ellsworth and its residents.
