Staff report
Elmwood/Plum City softball fell 5-0 at home against Colfax in a Dunn-St. Croix Conference game.
The loss dropped the second-place Wolves to 6-2 on the season, second place in the conference behind Glenwood City.
Ashlan Faber got the lone hit in the game for E/PC.
Going into the game, coach Becky Baier was pleased with her team’s play on the season.
The team had a couple rainouts last week but was playing its best ball. Baier said the squad is working hard.
“We need to work hard on fundaments so we can play clean games throughout the rest of the season,” she said. “I feel like we are preparing for postseason play. Every practice and game is important from here on out to fine tune us and get us in the best place we can be going into the postseason.” Anna Blanford is leading the Wolves at the plate as she has 12 hits in 26 at bats. She also has knocked in 12 runs this season.
Maggie Glaus also has 12 hits, while Hannah Bauer has eight, Natalie Mark has seven and Faber has six.
Blanford also has all seven wins as pitcher for the team.
TheWolves will seek to come back from the loss Thursday as they play at Glenwood city. They travel to Elk Mound Monday.
