ELMWOOD — Lucas Glaus, an Elmwood senior and standout basketball player for the Elmwood/Plum City Wolves, is headed to the University of Wisconsin-Superior next year to continue his career.

“From a very young age, I have always found myself gravitating towards the sport of basketball. As I played through the youth levels and then high school, I realized I wanted to continue to play at the college level. Basketball did influence my college decision, but somewhere I can succeed academically was very important because my education always comes first. University of Wisconsin-Superior has been the perfect fit for me, both academically and athletically,” Glaus stated.

Glaus led the Dunn-St. Croix Conference in scoring this year with 23.4 points per game and was third as a junior with 16.8 points per game. He was awarded first team all-conference this season and etched his name into the history books by becoming EPC’s all-time leading scorer since the schools paired up for sports with 1,468 points.

“The EPC journey has meant everything to me, growing up playing with teammates who have become my friends. It has been a privilege to be able to wear an EPC jersey throughout my career. I cannot say how grateful I am for the opportunities my coaches, family, and teammates have provided for me,” Glaus stated.

Glaus is not shying away from the challenge of the college transition, already getting a taste of what it will be like. He plans to study exercise science, pursuing a degree in occupational therapy.

“I am very thankful that this year, I have the opportunity to attend the College Transfer Academy at Chippewa Valley Technical College in River Falls. Attending college-level classes has helped me understand the expectations of college professors and learn the time management skills that college will require. This experience will be a huge help in making the transition to college easier with gaining the skills and experience that it takes for college,” Glaus stated.

Now, Glaus will return to the baseball diamond with hopes of helping to lead the team on a run before departing for college. He will cherish his memories on the court and in the field forever.

“My favorite high school memory has to be my junior year basketball playoff game where we traveled to Wisconsin Rapids to play Assumption High School. We were the underdogs and came out with a great team win. That game has always been at the top of my best memories when I think about my high school basketball career,” Glaus stated.
