ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to a Meet the Artist Reception featuring local artist Carol Nelson Pruchnofski from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. The free event offers visitors an opportunity to meet the artist, explore her exhibit, Echoes of the Moment, and learn about the stories and inspirations behind the artwork.

The exhibit is currently on display at the library and will remain available for viewing through July 30.

Pruchnofski's collection is divided into three themes: local landscapes and scenes from the surrounding area, travel-inspired works from destinations both near and abroad, and equine paintings that capture the beauty and spirit of horses. Through her use of color, texture, and composition, she strives to convey the feeling of a particular place, animal, or moment in time.

"I paint to create a feeling of a particular moment, animal, or person through the use of color, texture, and composition," said Pruchnofski. "It's my goal to capture the harmony I see in the landscape—the light and color of the day while it surrounds me."

Pruchnofski has spent much of her life drawing and painting and works in a variety of mediums, including oil paints, pastels, and cold wax and oil. She continues to study with other artists, exploring new methods and creative approaches that have expanded her work into abstracted landscapes and whimsical sculptures.

A passionate plein air painter, Pruchnofski credits outdoor painting with helping her develop a deeper understanding of color and light. Her work often seeks to preserve the atmosphere and emotion of a fleeting experience, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with memories of places and moments from their own lives.

In addition to landscapes, animals frequently serve as subjects in her paintings. Through careful attention to balance, contrast, and composition, she creates works that guide viewers through the image, revealing new details and points of interest along the way.

The Meet the Artist Reception offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from Pruchnofski about her artistic journey, creative process, and the inspirations that shaped Echoes of the Moment. Light refreshments will be served.

The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
