ELLSWORTH – Ellsworth Public Library is proud to host a special reception and meet & greet in honor of Capt. Jerry Hines from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9 at the library.

This community event will recognize and celebrate Capt. Hines’ invaluable contributions to the library’s building project and highlight the launch of Captain Hines’ Corner—a dedicated space within the library's Makerspace. This area is designed to inspire others to pursue their passions, reach for their goals, and dream big.

“We’re excited to honor Captain Hines not only for his generous support, but also for the lasting impact he’s had on our library and community,” said Tiffany Meyer, Director of the Ellsworth Public Library.

Guests are warmly invited to enjoy refreshments, engaging conversation, and a first look at the early stages of Captain Hines’ Corner. The event also offers an opportunity to learn about the incredible journey of a local man who followed his dreams—from growing up in Pierce County to serving 33 years in the U.S. Navy, earning three Meritorious Service Medals, traveling the world, and later becoming a Captain flying Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft for Delta Airlines.

Though now retired and living in San Jose, Calif. with his wife, Capt. Hines maintains strong ties to the area and proudly continues to farm in Pierce County.
