PRESCOTT – Have an exotic pet that you can no longer care for? Look no further than the Exotic Pet

Surrender Event, hosted by J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue, in collaboration with the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center, the Pet Advocacy Network, and the University of Wisconsin Sea Grant/Water Resources Institutes. This event aims to provide a safe, judgment-free environment for pet owners to surrender their exotic pets responsibly.

The Exotic Pet Surrender Event will take place from noon to 3 p.m. April 6 at the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center, located at 200 Monroe St., Prescott, WI 54021.

"We understand that circumstances change, and sometimes, pet owners find themselves unable to provide the care their exotic pets require," said John Moyles of J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue. "Our goal is to offer a compassionate alternative to ensure the safety and well-being of these animals."

The event will accept a variety of exotic pets, including fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals, and plants—no questions asked. Pet owners are urged to bring their animals in secure containers to ensure their safety during transportation.

"We want to emphasize that releasing exotic pets into the wild is harmful to both the animals and the

environment," Moyles added. "By surrendering your pet at our event, you're helping to prevent potential ecological damage."
