ELLSWORTH – Curious about acupuncture and the principles behind traditional Chinese medicine? The Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to explore the history and foundational concepts of this ancient healing tradition during a free seminar, “Acupuncture and the Basics of Chinese Medicine,” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, in the library’s Meeting Room.
Emily Jacobson of Healing Roots Wellness Center will lead the presentation, introducing participants to the “what” and “why” behind Chinese medicine and discussing how its principles continue to be used today.
Jacobson’s interest in wellness and holistic medicine began at a young age. She studied massage therapy at St. Croix Center for the Healing Arts and began her career as a massage therapist in 2000. In 2002, she opened her first business, Exceptional Relief Massage, which she operated for nine years.
Wanting to deepen her knowledge of the healing arts, Jacobson went on to study Chinese medicine and earned a Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 2016. She then opened To The Point Acupuncture and Tai Chi.
With more than 20 years of experience as a bodyworker, Jacobson brings a background that combines massage therapy, acupuncture and tai chi. She will share an introduction to Chinese medicine and acupuncture, offering attendees an opportunity to learn more about these traditional practices and ask questions.
“Whether you are familiar with acupuncture or are simply curious about what it is and how it fits into Chinese medicine, this seminar is a chance to learn the basics in a welcoming setting,” said the library.
The seminar is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register, call the Ellsworth Public Library at 715-273-3209.
