It’s time for fall clean-up in River Falls, and the city administration would like local residents to know the following, with more information to be found at www.rfcity.org/cleanup.
In the first place, fall cleanup will be held at the City Public Works Garage at 950 Benson from Monday October 5 through Friday October 9 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Saturday, October 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The clean-up is for River Falls residents who have a utility bill through River Falls Municipal Utilities and those using the clean-up will be asked to provide ID or a recent utilities bill. Those not qualifying will not be allowed to dispose of their items.
New this year are items that will not be accepted due to COVID, as they carry additional fees and Advanced Disposal will not be taking any payments. These items a include air conditioners, appliances, car tires, computers or printers, dehumidifiers, large quantities of construction debris, microwaves, truck tires and TVs or monitors less than 20 inches.
As to items that WILL be accepted for no fee at the clean-up October 5 through October 10, these are: cable satellite dishes under four feet in diameter, car seats, carpets and carpet pads, furniture, large or bulky items, mattresses or box springs, up to one pick-up truck bed full of minor household construction debris, or one pick-up truck bed full of miscellaneous garbage.
A separate recycling event for items not taken during the regular cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, October 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., also at the Public Works Garage. People may also bring them to the Advanced Disposal Roberts Transfer Station at 100 Packer Drive in Roberts, Wisconsin. Regarding the unacceptable items, they are as follows: asphalt car batteries, chemicals, contractor waste, concrete, fluorescent bulbs, hazardous waste, lumber with nails, lumber over six feet long, oil, paint, propane tanks, and tires.
