Everyone escapes without injury
Staff report
RIVER FALLS – A homeowner and children were able to get out of a house safely when a fire broke out in a Hazel Street bungalow in the wee morning hours of June 14.
According to River Falls Fire Division Chief Mike Moody, River Falls Fire Department received a call at 3:40 a.m. Monday, June 14 to respond to 635 E. Hazel St. where fire was showing from one side of the house in the attic area.
Pierce County property records show Alan R. Anderson as the home’s owner. He bought the home on June 1 from Dustin and Magen Dodge. The home was built in 1900.
Moody said the homeowner and children were home at the time, but everyone got out safely. No injuries were reported by them or any firefighters on the scene.
Twenty-seven River Falls firefighters responded, along with five from Hudson. They were on the scene for almost three hours. Moody said the home had extensive damage upstairs, but was repairable. He added that weather was not a factor when fighting the blaze. The cause is under investigation by the insurance company.
