RIVER FALLS – In recognition of Financial Literacy Month, First National Bank of River Falls has been named one of 11 organizations statewide to receive a 2025 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award.

The award was presented by Gov. Tony Evers at the Wisconsin State Capitol, honoring individuals and organizations dedicated to helping Wisconsinites build financial knowledge and confidence.

First National Bank of River Falls was selected as the recipient of the Legacy Award, a lifetime recognition given to an organization whose purpose and heritage are deeply rooted in advancing financial literacy and capability.

Since its founding in 1904, FNBRF has made financial literacy the cornerstone of its mission—serving not only as a community bank, but as a trusted educator, advocate, and partner in improving financial wellbeing across western Wisconsin. For more than 20 consecutive years, the Wisconsin Bankers Foundation has recognized FNBRF with its Excellence in Financial Education Award.

“Financial literacy isn’t just something we support—it’s part of who we are,” said Jeff Johnson, President and CEO. “We are committed to helping individuals and families build confidence in their financial decisions. This recognition is truly a reflection of our employees’ passion for serving and educating our communities.”

FNBRF’s approach to financial education focuses on making complex topics accessible, relatable, and engaging. Through hands-on learning experiences and community partnerships with schools, law enforcement, libraries, and local organizations, the bank has reached thousands of individuals across all age groups.

“We see every day how powerful financial education can be,” said Amy Weiss, Vice President – Marketing Officer. “Whether it’s a second grader learning how to save a portion of their birthday money or a senior protecting themselves from scams, these moments matter. This award validates the importance of meeting people where they are and making financial literacy approachable and engaging.”
