Residents of the City of River Falls are reminded that there will be a public hearing November 10th, 2020 at the City Hall Council Chambers at 6:31 p.m., in relation to a proposed revision of the city floodplain ordinance. The updates in question were prompted by an updated Flood Insurance Study recently completed for Pierce County, in which surveyed changes near Spring Valley have made necessary an update on the part of the City of River Falls, though previous contact with Sam Wessel from the River Falls Community Development Department by the Journal indicates that few if any noticeable changes are to be expected. Rather, the update will bring city ordinances in line with state and federal law. Wessel previously shared that the City is required to update its ordinance by FEMA and the State DNR. Those wishing to review the proposed floodplain ordinance may do so by hovering over the “Government” tab on the City of River Fall’s homepage at www.rfcity.org, followed by looking to the lower left side under “Agendas & Minutes,” and uploading the council packet for October 27, 2020 in the Agenda Center, the proposed ordinance beginning on page 35.
