Freedom Park column: A heartfelt thank you to the volunteers

The Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center is more than a stop along a scenic route; it is a place where people can connect with the warmth of our community. In every community, there are places that help tell the story of where we live. In Prescott, one of those special places is the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park. But what truly makes this destination memorable isn’t just the stunning views of the Mississippi and St. Croix rivers or the new exhibits, it’s the people who give their time and energy to our center.

The volunteers at the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center are the heart of the experience. Prescott is fortunate to have individuals who care so deeply about their community. By donating their time, knowledge, money, and kindness, these volunteers represent the very best of what a community can be: generous, proud, and welcoming.

With warm smiles and genuine enthusiasm, they greet travelers from near and far at the welcome desk. They sit on our Board of Directors and guide the path that this wonderful center is on, a path of rejuvenation. They dig in the dirt and produce spectacular gardens that delight everyone that steps into our park. They help with numerous events and activities, giving our community a chance to come together to have fun and learn. They give of their money to keep our center the strong and vibrant “Gem of Prescott.”

Their dedication goes far beyond simply “doing” things for our center. It is in the spirit in which they give, the true generosity that is shown to our center. One such “super” volunteer is Mr. Jason Holz (pictured). Jason has given of his time and talents to help the center with the wall reorganization project. Jason gives selflessly to our center; his generosity and kindness is helping the center create a space that will make lasting memories for travelers and our community alike.

The center is excited to announce that it has created an acknowledgment wall showcasing all those who have helped maintain our center over the years. We cannot thank people enough for all that they have done and do for us. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. You play an important role in showcasing the generous spirit of Prescott. Stop in and view the wall.

Thank you for being ambassadors of the Great River Road Visitor and Learning Center at Freedom Park, you make it the special place that it is!
