Icebergs were clearly visible from the bluff line this past weekend as they floated down the Mississippi and St. Croix, two mighty rivers that have defined this beautiful spot since time immemorial.
The Great River Road Visitor and Learning center was open every weekend all winter long, providing a place to sit by the fireplace hearth and enjoy educational programs suitable for both children and adults. Recent warm weather has helped the river ice sheets to melt and the crocuses and tulips to push their way through the last remnants of snow in our native prairie and pollinator gardens.
There is much to anticipate at Freedom Park this coming season. Phase II of our building refresh is enthusiastically taking shape with new exhibits and learning materials. A full lineup of programs for people of all ages has been scheduled. Our River Room Art Gallery will host many talented artists with chances to meet the artists at their art reception. Much has been and will be accomplished with countless volunteer hours from our Stewards of the Park. They are the bedrock of our organization, comprising our garden group, welcome desk team, event volunteers and our board of directors.
If you have an interest in getting involved at Freedom Park to help ensure that it remains the gem of Prescott, or to find information on current programs, events and art exhibitions, please visit our website at: www.freedomparkwi.org, Facebook, or better yet, come visit us in person. Spring is coming to Freedom Park, and we are expecting an exciting time for all!
