RIVER FALLS — A community fundraiser benefiting two local families will be held from 3-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at the River Falls Golf Course. Proceeds from the event will be split evenly between the Powers family of Bo Jon’s Flowers & Gifts and 11-year-old Ray LeMay of Ray’s Hen House.

The event, hosted at a venue generously donated by the River Falls Golf Course, aims to ease the financial strain both families are experiencing due to serious medical challenges.

The Powers family recently closed their brick-and-mortar flower shop as they continue to face mounting medical expenses related to ongoing health issues. Erin Powers is known throughout the community for her volunteer efforts, including coordinating the Blooms for Rooms program and organizing last year’s benefit for the Trainor family of Urban Olive & Vine.

Ray LeMay, a young entrepreneur who runs Ray’s Hen House, selling farm-fresh eggs, was recently hospitalized with a life-threatening case of diabetic ketoacidosis. Now managing Type 1 diabetes, Ray’s family hopes to raise funds to obtain a diabetes alert dog, which can detect dangerous blood sugar changes and help prevent future emergencies.

The fundraiser will feature a silent auction, meat raffle, and food service. Meat for the raffle has been donated by Ptacek’s, while food will be provided by Hudco To Go and Plate by Kate. Organizers are currently seeking donated items, gift baskets, and services for the silent auction.

The event is sponsored by White Pine Berry Farm and River Falls Golf Course. Community members and businesses throughout the St. Croix Valley are encouraged to attend, donate, and help spread the word.
