Santa and Mrs. Claus traveled from the North Pole to take part in the Dam Days parade on Sunday, Sept. 21, though Rudolph stayed home to rest. They’ll be back in town for the holiday celebration in the Valley.

Tom Gunderson and his green thumb were representing the Spring Valley Garden Club in the parade. The Garden Club is responsible for the beautiful hanging baskets throughout town.

Donna Swenson waves to the crowd, representing the Pierce County 40 et 8. The 40 et 8 is known as “La Societe des Quarante Hommes et Huit Chevaux. Its name and symbols originate from the French railway boxcars used during World War I that were stenciled with "40/8", denoting their capacity to carry either 40 men or eight horses. Founded in 1920 by American Legionnaires, the organization is by invitation only and focuses on charitable work, child welfare, nurses training, and supporting veterans.”
