Gathering Place activities: May 1-8

PRESCOTT – April showers bring May flowers and as you have probably noticed, we have some lovely blossoms around Prescott!
The calendar for May has been either emailed or mailed out to Gathering Place members. It is also available at the Gathering Place. Did you notice some of the new activities for the month? Outdoor walking group and a Mahjongg game both start on Tuesdays in May. Also don’t forget that the first Tuesday (May 7) is the monthly potluck lunch at noon.
Wednesday, May 1: Card games, Euchre and Bridge from 12:30-3:30 p.m.

Thursday, May 2: Pickleball is 9-10:30 a.m. at the Prescott Intermediate School gym (125 N. Elm St.); from 12:30-3:30 p.m. is Canasta (card game).

Friday, May 3: Memory Café is 10-11:30 a.m. at the First National Bank (lower level).

Tuesday, May 7: Mahjongg is at 9 a.m. Beginners are welcome. Walking group meets at 9 a.m. at the Prescott Middle School parking lot near Door 5. The Program/Publicity Committee will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Gathering Place, followed by the monthly potluck lunch at noon.

Wednesday, May 8: The Advisory Committee meets at 9:30 a.m., followed by cards, Euchre and Bridge 12:30-3:30  p.m.

Thursday, May 9: Pickleball is at 9 a.m. at the Prescott Intermediate School gym, followed by Canasta 12:30-3:30 p.m. At 1 p.m., Art 101 will feature watercolor painting. A $2 supply fee will be collected at class. Meet in room G9.

Upcoming events: At 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, Natalie Kranig from the Prescott Fire Department will speak on fire safety, fire extinguishers and more. Treats will be served.

A drama, “Still Alice”, will be shown at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 23.

The May Book Club book is “Slaughter House Five” by Kurt Vonnegut. The book was a banned book. A book discussion will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 28.
Senior Gathering place is open to all seniors 55 and older. Regular hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 12:30- 3:30 p.m. We are located at the Prescott Middle School, 1220 S Croix St., Door 5.
