Get ready for Frozen February Fun at Ellsworth Public Library

Posted

Ellsworth Public Library invites the community to take part in its 2026 Winter Library Program, “Frozen February Fun.” Stop by the library to pick up a reading and activities log and join a month full of reading, creativity, and prizes.

Frozen February Fun is open to all ages, from toddlers to adults. Participants can log each day they read, are read to, listen to a story, or for every five minutes spent reading. Completing activities and reading logs earns small prizes and entries into a grand prize drawing, with prizes awarded by age group.

In addition to the reading challenge, the library has scheduled several special February events:

Book Drop STEM Storytime (ages 4–8)

Tuesday, Feb. 3, 6 p.m. – Makerspace
We’ll read “Rocket Says Look Up!,” hear from an astronaut, and explore the moon and its craters through hands-on science activities. At 7 p.m., the public is invited to observe the recently full moon through the library telescope.

Thursday, Feb. 12, 6 p.m.– Makerspace
We’ll read “Jaydin’s Impossible Garden,” hear from a gardener, explore with our senses, create sensory-inspired art, and take home a mini garden started with seeds.

Book Drop is a free STEM Storytime series funded by the National Science Foundation and presented by Twin Cities PBS and the STAR Library Network (STAR Net). Designed for children ages 4–8 and their parents or caregivers, Book Drop combines hands-on science and storytelling to inspire curiosity and a love of learning.

Dragon Fest! (ages 7+)

Monday, Feb. 16, 2-4 p.m.

Calling all fans of dragons and fantasy! Join us for an afternoon celebrating all things dragons. Dragon attire and costumes are encouraged. Activities include trivia, dragon eye and dragon egg crafts, discussions of favorite book series, and fun breakout challenges. Registration required: Call the library at 715-273-3209.

February in the Makerspace: A Tropical Escape

While winter lingers, the library’s Makerspace will offer a tropical escape throughout February. Drop-in activities will include decorating seashells, creating mini beaches, sorting and identifying shells, and making colorful suncatchers. These creative projects are designed to be fun, educational, and hands-on for all ages.

There is always something happening at Ellsworth Public Library. Stop in this February to read, create, learn, and warm up your creativity during Frozen February Fun.

Ellsworth Public Library serves the community by providing free access to information, resources, and engaging programs for all ages. Through educational opportunities, creative experiences, and community partnerships, the library supports lifelong learning, literacy, and connection.
