The Prescott and Ellsworth cross country teams posted some strong finishes Thursday in windy conditions at the St. Croix Central Invitational in Hammond.
The Prescott boys team took fourth overall, while Ellsworth took sixth. The Cardinal girls took fifth at the meet, while the Panther girls came in eighth.
In the boys race, New Richmond took first place, followed by Osceola and St. Croix Central. Prescott was fourth with 124 points, while Amery and Ellsworth were right behind the Cards with 125 points. Somerset took seventh, while Baldwin-Woodville was eighth.
Junior Tyler Loucks put in the top Prescott race, taking 15th in 19:21.6. Second for the Cards was Eric Korfhage, 22nd in 20:05.8, followed by Connor Lubich, 26th, 20:46.2; Breckin Schommer, 30th in 20:51.7; Matthew Lynes, 31st, 20:57.1; Jake Hamman, 44th, 21:57.4; Damion Huppert, 46th, 23:10.7; Logan Stewart, 52nd, 23:27.1; Jayde Canfield, 56th, 23:41.5; and Dylan Sterud, 57th, 23:45.5.
For the Ellsworth boys, Addison Peters turned in the top race, finishing 10th overall in 18:44.3; followed by Alex Pazdernik, 13th, 19:03.1; Kohl Flock, 16th, 19:23.3; John Gillespie, 40th, 21:23.5; and Jasper Knutson, 53rd, 23:20.2.
For the Prescott girls, Amanda Auleciems took 13th overall in 23:13.1 to set the team pace; followed by Ava Budworth, 27th, 24:57.8; Ali Warp, 28th, 25:00.9; Kira Penk, 31st, 25:06.9; Mallory Boles, 48th, 26:38.3; Elsie Dempsey-Rice, 54th, 27:06.4; Sierra Stander, 56th, 27:10.8; Jessie Urman, 61st, 27:55.4; and Emily Linder, 72nd, 32:18.8.
Aubrey Wittenberg set the pace for the Ellsworth girls, taking 17th overall in 23:51.4; followed by Jocelyn Boyle, 33rd in 25:19.4; Ann Lundstrom, 40th, 26:15.4; Cece Groh, 47th, 26:34.5; Sophie Vogel, 51st, 26:58.6; Jolene Schultz; 52nd, 27:02.5; Chloe Vanwatermeul, 53rd, 27:04.7; Abigail Michels, 59th, in 27:35.0; Jillian Griggs, 60th, in 27:43.2; and Kayla Kressin, 68th in 29:52.8.
