A Hager City man is accused of sexually assaulting two children repeatedly and allegedly admitted to some of the allegations.
William John McRoberts, 58, was ordered to pay $100,000 cash bond Jan. 21 in Pierce County Circuit Court on felony child sexual exploitation – videos, records, etc. and two felony repeated sexual assault of same child (at least three violations of first-degree sexual assault) charges. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 60 years in prison and/or fines up to $100,000.
According to the complaint:
McRoberts is accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old child repeatedly from Nov. 28, 2019 to Dec. 25, 2025 and a 5-year-old child 50-100 times from May 31 to Sept. 1, 2025 at his Hager City home.
The children told investigators McRoberts had touched them inappropriately while they were sleeping, playing games such as “doctor” or whenever McRoberts’ wife wasn’t home.
One child told police that McRoberts took photos of her while she was nude and would look at her through a window when she took showers. He also forced the children to touch him and told them if they told anybody he would hurt them. When they told him to stop, he said he couldn’t help himself.
McRoberts told police he had been molested by an older sister as a child and that he molested another sister. He said he didn’t think it was “anything out of the normal” at the time. He said he thought he had gotten over the sexual abuse, but that he could no longer “resist the urge” and likes “the young girlish figure.”
McRoberts is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Jan. 30.
