RIVER FALLS – It’s time to round up a team and grab your clubs for Walk On Therapeutic Riding Program’s seventh annual Horsin’ Around Scramble on Saturday, July 26, 2025. The tourney takes place at Pheasant Hills Golf Course in Hammond with a noon shotgun start, hole events, and add-ons such as mulligans, putting strings and raffle tickets for purchase. Prizes will be awarded for the longest drive, closest to the pin, longest putt and more, as well as drawings and raffle items. The event culminates with a lunch of brats, dogs and beverages in the clubhouse.
Located in River Falls, Walk On is in its 24th year of providing individualized equine-assisted activities for children and adults with disabilities from several surrounding counties. The program teaches participants riding skills, while also working towards personal goals in areas like motor skills, communication, and confidence.
“Our event has been gaining popularity for its laid-back, relaxed vibe. It features just a few raffles, games, and door prizes without the pressure of big auctions or a lengthy agenda. The event attracts a unique group of supporters and sponsors who desire the simple pleasure of getting together to swing the clubs and raise funds for this amazing program,” said Rick Allen, board president and also parent of a longtime rider.
Proceeds from the Horsin’ Around Scramble benefit the therapeutic riding program and are utilized primarily to cover the expenses of the therapy horses: veterinary needs, feed, farrier costs, upkeep of boarding facilities, etc. Funds raised will also benefit the Horses for Heroes program which focuses on current members and veterans of the military, law enforcement, and emergency personnel.
The cost for golfers to participate is $75 per person and includes lunch. You can register as an individual or twosome and will be assigned to a team. Registration starts at 10 a.m. Can’t attend on the day of the event but want to donate? We are looking for businesses or individuals to sponsor a hole or sponsor the expense of lunch and/or prizes. Sponsorship cost is $200 and donors will be recognized through signage, program and press release.
