Jack Bernard Ames, age 80 of Prescott, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was born on April 2, 1942, to George and Hazel (Borg) Ames in the Clifton Township in rural Prescott/River Falls. Jack attended Prescott High School graduating with the class of 1960. After high school, Jack enlisted into the United States Marine Corps serving from 1961 to 1964. Jack was extremely proud of his time in the military and was a member of the Prescott American Legion. Jack went on to marry Helen Matzek on April 20, 1968, in River Falls, WI.
Jack was a man with a great passion for the outdoors. He loved to go out fishing and enjoy a long day out on the water and going deer hunting with his family. Anything that involved being outside he was interested in. He was a very proud Green Bay Packers fan as well, never missing a game. Jack was also an incredible cook; grilling out on the deck was one of his favorite things. No one could argue that he was a grill master. He also loved his grandchildren very much; they were his world. One of the greatest qualities that Jack held was his compassion and understanding. No matter the situation, he was always there for his friends and family to give guidance with no judgement. He was a kind and loving man, and will be greatly missed by his family.
Jack is survived by his sons: Todd (Sheila) Ames, and Terry Lindstrom; daughter-in-law: Mikki Studer; grandchildren: Josh Ames, Joey (Taylor) Lindstrom and Johanna (Carl) Shriver; great grandchildren: Mila, Emerson and Marlee; and brother, Frank Ames. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ames; sons, Tim Studer and Tom Studer; parents: George and Hazel; siblings: Rodger Ames, Eddie Ames, and Shirley Ames.
A Celebration of Life will be from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at The Old Ptacek’s Event Center: 1449 Orrin Rd, Prescott, WI 54021. Burial will take place at Pine Glen Cemetery next to his beloved wife Helen.
