Jim Tromberg, age of 66, of River Falls, passed away on Aug. 17, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. Jim was born Aug. 1, 1957 to Ernest and Virginia Tromberg. Jim graduated from Prescott High School. Following high school, he attended the University of Wisconsin in River Falls to study animal science. For Jim’s entire life, he enjoyed training and showing horses. In his younger years, Jim would take his two sisters and horses to many horse shows all summer long. He wouldn’t show the horses, but be on the fence line coaching his sisters. Jim also traveled around the country to compete in Quarter Horse horse shows.

Jim had a love for plants, especially ferns. No matter where he went, even on vacation to his seasonal camper, he would bring with what plants he could fit into his vehicle so he could enjoy them on vacation. He had quite a green thumb.

Jim enjoyed interior design as well. His place was always decorated with the most elegant furniture and pictures. He would decorate inside and out for every season and holiday.

Jim mainly worked in retail. He was a manager for Men’s Warehouse in Eau Claire, Wis. for several years. In his early years, Jim was a bartender.

Jim’s hobby was bird watching. He could tell you the name of just about every bird.

At the end of just about every day Jim would write in his journal. He even had a daily weather journal. Those who knew Jim knew he was hardly ever seen not wearing a cap.

Jim was loved by many friends and family. He had two very special friends Cori and Mark.

Jim is survived by his father Ernest (Ernie) Tromberg of River Falls, Wis., sister Jolene (Steve) Trautmann of Hastings, Minn. and sister Janet (Wayne) Gutting of Becker, Minn.; nieces and nephews Jessica (Nick) Nelson of Springbrook, Wis., Jayson (Michelle) Tromberg of Prescott, Wis., Joey (Holly) Trautmann of Hastings, Minn., Jenelle Trautmann of Canyon, Texas and Amber (John) Gutting of Clear Lake, Minn.; great nieces and nephews Brianna, Kaylin, Taylor, Hayden, Makiah, Brekken, Everlee and Drake (not by relation).

Jim is preceded in death by his mother Virgina Tromberg and brother Jay Tromberg.

There will be a celebration of life for Jim from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023 from at Freedom Park in Prescott, Wis. In Lieu of flowers, memorial to the family is appreciated.”
