Jane E. Swenson, age 90 of River Falls, Wis., died on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2024, at Kinnic Health & Rehab in River Falls, Wis. Jane was born the daughter of Lorenz and Selma (Thote) Schellenberger on Nov. 10, 1933, in St. Paul, Minn. She grew up on a farm near Hugo, Minn. Jane attended grade school in Centerville, Minn. and graduated from White Bear Lake High School in the class of 1951. After high school she worked as a typist at St. Paul Companies and as a secretary at 3M. She also marched with the Saint Paul’s Drum and Bugle Corps. On March 1, 1958, Jane was married to Duane Swenson. They moved to a farm eight miles east of River Falls, Wis. Duane and Jane farmed and raised three children. Jane kept busy with volunteer work at Rush River Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 121 Auxiliary. She also enjoyed playing piano, painting porcelain, reading, crossword puzzles, and Sudoku.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lorenz and Selma Schellenberger; husband, Duane Swenson; son, Gary Swenson; and sister, Carol (Duane) Davis. Jane is survived by her daughters, Karen (Rodney) Miller, Lori (Dean) Koehler; grandchildren, Josh (Kayla) Miller, Kyle (Alissa) Miller, Matt (Melodie Neff) Miller; great-grandchildren, Briar, Celia, Jace, Beau; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 at Rush River Lutheran Church( N8623 CTH-Y, River Falls, WI.) Visitation will also be from 1-2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 2024,. at the church. Interment will be in Rush River Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Adoray Hospice or Kinnic Health & Rehab Activities Department.
