Prescott School District has partnered with Randy Shaver’s Tackle Cancer Research and Community Fund for its Oct. 13 “Tackle Cancer and Pink Out” event when the Cardinal football team hosts the Rice Lake Warriors.
A 5 p.m. tailgating party at Laney Field parking lot proceeds the 7 p.m. kick-off time and features a free will donation tailgate of food, a hot chocolate bar, giveaways, football toss, and a dedication board where attendees can recognize a cancer survivor or loved one who has battled cancer. All donations collected will go to the Randy Shaver Tackle Cancer Research and Community Fund.
This year’s event is personal for many community members and our Cardinal football team, including the local West family. Prescott students Ethan (11th grade) and Brody (ninth) West’s mother, Paula, is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
“We are extremely grateful to Cernohous Chevrolet for making this event possible by funding the purchase of the football team’s Pink Out jerseys and more,” said PCR Director Angela Magee, who is coordinating the event with other volunteers. “Once we had their support, the rest fell into place.” Ptacek’s also generously donated the tunnel entrance where the players will enter the field for this game.
We look forward to seeing you at the tailgate event!
